Commitment to achieving Net Zero

Monaghans Limited are committed to achieving Net Zero emissions by 2050.

Baseline Emissions Footprint

Baseline emissions are a record of the greenhouse gases produced by Monaghans Limited based on our business activities in 2019 (pre covid activities and working practices) before any new strategies to reduce emissions. These Baseline Emissions are the reference point against which emissions reduction can be measured.

Emissions Reduction Targets

In order to continue our progress to achieving Net Zero, we have adopted the following carbon reduction targets.

Monaghans Limited is targeting Net Zero Emissions across its activities by 2050. This target includes all emission sources covered in PN06/21.

Forecasted progress towards our target of Net Zero emissions shown is in the graph below.

Completed Carbon Reduction Initiatives

The following environmental management measures and projects have been completed or implemented since the 2019 baseline. Carbon reduction initiatives implemented to date:

• Introduction of new virtual meeting working practices

• Flexible working policy

• ‘Refurbishment’ of office equipment rather than replacement during the office upgrade works

• Introduction of a cycle to work scheme 

• Reduced business travel through remote working

• LED lighting replacement to increase efficiency of lights

• Replacement of inefficient office air conditioning system

In the future we plan to implement further measures such as:

• Introduction of EV car charging within the office

• Green Car Policy / initiative

• Public Transport first strategy

• Review renewable energy options

• Explore carbon offsetting opportunities

• Provide additional CPD with environmental focuses

• ISO14001 certification

In addition to the above internal carbon reduction initiatives, we support many of our clients with their own carbon reduction plans where the overall environmental impact is substantially greater.  Further details available on request.

Declaration and Sign Off

This Carbon Reduction Plan has been completed in accordance with PPN 06/21 and associated guidance and reporting standard for Carbon Reduction Plans.

Emissions have been reported and recorded in accordance with the published reporting standard for Carbon Reduction Plans and the GHG Reporting Protocol corporate standard and uses the appropriate Government emission conversion factors for greenhouse gas company reporting.

Scope 1 and Scope 2 emissions have been reported in accordance with SECR requirements, and the required subset of Scope 3 emissions have been reported in accordance with the published reporting standard for Carbon Reduction Plans and the Corporate Value Chain (Scope 3) Standard.

This Carbon Reduction Plan has been reviewed and signed off by the board of directors.
