Veterans of Ventoux

2nd October 2019

Last week, Monaghans’ Project Managers Adam Pickering and Dariush Ghorbani embarked on a gruelling 3-day cycling challenge in the South of France. Riding alongside Property Partners from our valued long-term client John Lewis & Partners, Adam and Dariush successfully completed the infamous Club des Cinglés du Mont Ventoux in support of City YMCA London.

City YMCA London provide accommodation, support and a range of youth work interventions to young people made homeless. They have been working with young people for 45 years, housing over 10,000 and enabling another 20,000 to become meaningfully engaged through their youth work.

Inspired by this worthy cause, Adam and Dariush climbed Mont Ventoux 3 times in a day from all directions (a 136km ride with 4,443m of ascent) – an amazing feat considering its status as one of the toughest climbs in the Tour de France! As well as the challenge day, Adam and Dariush had two other full days on the bike, cycling over 200km in Provence and the Parc regional des Baronnies Provencales.

Congratulations to Adam and Dariush and thank you to everyone who has donated so far. Having completed the challenge, Adam and Dariush would now like to meet their fundraising target of £1,000. All donations go straight to City YMCA London and would help make the months of training and three days of suffering worthwhile, so please do give generously via the fundraising page below.
