Monaghans and St. Luke’s Hospice would like to thank everyone that made the 2017 ‘Monaghans All Stars’ match at Bramall Lane a resounding success. From our hosts Sheffield United F.C., to headline sponsors Sheffield Digital Campus and key supporting sponsors Morgan Sindall, Lambert Smith Hampton and Pygott & Crone, to all the individuals who travelled from far and wide to participate and of course all those who have generously donated! Thank you all, we couldn’t have done it without you!

On the pitch the ‘Rest of Property XI’ were eager to avenge last year’s defeat and started strongly establishing a 2 – 0 lead early on. Hope was restored for the All Stars as Monaghans Director/Striker Simon Turner maintained his scoring record in the fixture, finishing off a superb team move with an accurate strike into the top corner from the edge of the area! Rest of Property stared the second half strongly and initially restored their two-goal advantage at 3 – 1, but with just under 10 minutes to go, the All Stars brought it back to 3 -2 and setup an exciting finish. Ultimately it was the Rest of Property XI who secured the win in the final minutes as a cross reached the back post and was met with a thunderous strike that saw the ball scream into the roof of the All Stars net to decide the fixture.

A post-match penalty shootout did restore some pride for the All Stars when, despite missing one early spot kick as a slightly too cheeky chip sailed over the bar, saves from Goalkeeper Alex Wileman secured a consolation victory.

Of course, the real winner was St Luke’s Hospice who will once again be receiving a sizeable donation from what looks set to be an annual fundraising event. For any further donations please visit:

****Update Ends****

Following the fundraising and footballing success of last year’s charity match, the Monaghans All Stars are looking forward to another run out at Bramall Lane in aid of St Luke’s Hospice.

St Luke’s Hospice cares for people aged 18 and above throughout Sheffield who have terminal illnesses. Providing their valued service free of charge, the charity aims to control symptoms, alleviate pain, and give terminally ill patients the best possible quality of life.

To raise funds for this worthy cause, Thursday 18th May will see a squad of ‘Monaghans All Stars’ managed by Monaghans Regional Director Tan Khan and captained on the field by Monaghans Director Simon Turner, face off against a ‘Rest of Property XI’ at Bramall Lane, the home of the newly crowned League One Champions Sheffield United.

The squads will contain a mix of Monaghans colleagues, clients and contacts from the property sector but will also be bolstered by a number of former professional footballers who will no doubt add a competitive edge to the atmosphere! The players have made donations to take part in what will be a fully professional match with full use of the facilities, dugouts and pitch, supported by a full officiating crew, mascots and stewards for the crowd.

Supporters, friends and family are warmly invited to come and enjoy the spectacle and cheer on the players. Admission is free and gates will open at 18:00 with access through the Directors Lounge into the 1889 Bar ahead of kick off at 18:45.

Donations will of course be welcome on the night and there will also be a raffle prize draw. We look forward to raising another significant sum to support the work of St Luke’s Hospice, if you would like to make a donation online before, during or after the match please visit:

Special thanks must go to returning headline sponsor Sheffield Digital Campus and our other key partners who have supported this event:
